Eid is around the corner, and you are probably running through that familiar mental list. Eidiya for the kids, a gift for the host, something for your in-laws, a thank-you for the friend who watched your dog, a token for your team at work. The list grows fast.
Here is the easy fix. Skip the generic mall gifts this year and shop local instead. Qatar has a quietly brilliant small business scene, and Eid is the perfect excuse to support it. These are the local brands and made-in-Qatar gifts worth your money this Eid Al Adha 2026, sorted by who you are buying for and what you want to spend.
Why Buy Local This Eid
A few reasons this matters.
You are giving a gift with a story. A hand-poured candle from a Doha studio carries more meaning than a duty-free box of chocolates. Local brands are run by founders you can actually meet, often at markets like Torba on the Bridge or Heenat Salma.
You are supporting Qatar’s growing creative economy. Most of these businesses started during or after 2020, often as side projects that became something bigger. Your purchase pays a local rent, salary, or small studio space.
You are gifting something the recipient probably has not seen ten times already. The mall standard gets old fast. A small-batch perfume oil, a handmade ceramic piece, or a curated wellness bundle stands out.
Now let us get into the brands.

Eid Gifting Etiquette In Qatar
A few practical notes if you are gifting across cultures this Eid.
Eidiya is for children only. Adults do not exchange cash. If you want to gift something to an adult, make it a physical gift or experience.
Avoid gifting alcohol, even to non-Muslim recipients. It is not appropriate as an Eid gift in Qatar regardless of who is receiving it.
Dates, sweets, and perfume oils are always safe. These are the most culturally universal Eid gifts and almost impossible to get wrong.
Bring a gift if you are visiting a Qatari home. A small box of dates, premium chocolates, a candle, or a scented oil from Souq Waqif is appropriate. Flowers are less traditional but increasingly welcomed.
Gift wrapping matters. Qatari gifting culture values presentation. Even a small gift in beautiful wrapping lands better than a more expensive gift in a plastic bag.
For business gifts, keep it under 200 QAR per recipient unless they are top-tier clients. Anything above that risks feeling excessive in a corporate context.
The best Eid gifts are the ones with a story. A candle made by someone whose stall you have visited. A jar of jam from a woman you met at Torba Market. A scarf designed by a Qatari label whose founder you have read about. A box of dates harvested from a farm an hour outside Doha.
This Eid Al Adha 2026, shop a little smaller, a little slower, and a lot more local. Your recipients will notice, the brands will appreciate it, and your money stays in the community that surrounds you.
Eid Mubarak from People & Qatar. May your gifting list be short, your wrapping skills be on point, and your local discoveries be many.

Tips For Sharing Eid Wishes In Qatar
A few small things that make your greeting land better.
Lead with the Arabic greeting when messaging Qatari friends, colleagues, or clients. Even a simple “Eid Mubarak, kul aam wa antum bi khair” shows cultural respect and effort.
Send greetings on the right day. Eid Al Adha 2026 begins on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 in Qatar. Send your wishes the evening of Arafah Day (26 May) or the morning of Eid Day 1. Messages sent too early lose impact.
Personalise where you can. A generic forwarded message is fine, but a one-line personal note added to the top makes it land differently.
Avoid mass-tagging on Instagram. A heartfelt caption with two or three people tagged feels more genuine than a sticker collage with 50 names.
Reply to the wishes you receive. Even a simple “Eid Mubarak to you too, khair Mubarak” matters. People remember who responded and who left them on read.

Eid Mubarak from Doha. Sending you warm wishes, full hearts, and prayers for a year ahead filled with happiness and good health.
May this Eid Al Adha bring you closer to those you love and remind you of all the blessings in your life. Eid Mubarak and asakum min uwwadah.
Eid Mubarak. From my family to yours, may your home be filled with love, your table with abundance, and your heart with peace.
Save this page for next year too. The wishes do not expire, the meaning does not change, and the greetings will always work.
Eid Al Adha is the holier of the two Islamic Eids, and in Qatar it brings one of the longest public holidays of the year. Whether you are a long-term resident, a new expat in Doha, or someone visiting Qatar for the first time during the holiday, this is your complete guide to Eid Al Adha 2026 in Qatar.
Here is everything you need to know, all in one place.
When Is Eid Al Adha 2026 In Qatar?
Eid Al Adha 2026 in Qatar begins on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, corresponding to 10 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH in the Islamic calendar.
This has been confirmed by Qatar Calendar House based on astronomical calculations. The first day of Dhu al-Hijjah falls on Monday, 18 May 2026, which sets the countdown to one of the most significant occasions in Islam.
As always, the final dates are subject to the official moon sighting, which is confirmed by Qatar’s Amiri Diwan a day or two before the holiday.
Amiri Diwan State of Qatar
The Amiri Diwan announces that on the occasion of the upcoming Eid Al Adha Al Mubarak, the Eid holiday will be as follows:
Ministries, other government agencies, authorities, and public institutions: The holiday begins on Tuesday, the 9th of Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH, corresponding to May 26, 2026, and ends on Saturday, the 13th of Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH, corresponding to May 30, 2026. Employees are to resume work on Sunday, the 14th of Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH, corresponding to May 31, 2026.
Qatar Central Bank, banks, and financial institutions under the supervision of the Central Bank and the Qatar Financial Markets Authority: The Governor of Qatar Central Bank will determine the start and end dates of the holiday.
Eid Al Adha 2026 Holiday Dates In Qatar
The five-day public holiday in Qatar runs as follows.
Tuesday, 26 May 2026: Arafah Day (Waqfa)
Wednesday, 27 May 2026: Eid Al Adha Day 1
Thursday, 28 May 2026: Eid Al Adha Day 2
Friday, 29 May 2026: Eid Al Adha Day 3
Saturday, 30 May 2026: Eid Al Adha Day 4
For government employees and most public sector workers, this is a five-day continuous break with no annual leave needed. Take Monday 25 May off and you stretch it to six days. Add the weekend before and after, and the most strategic planners are looking at up to nine days off.
Private sector employees typically receive three to four days off depending on their company policy. Banks and financial institutions follow the schedule set by the Governor of the Qatar Central Bank.
What Is Eid Al Adha?
Eid Al Adha, also called the Festival of Sacrifice or Al Eid Al Kabeer (The Grand Eid), is one of the two major Islamic festivals. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail in obedience to God’s command. Before the sacrifice took place, God provided a ram to be sacrificed instead.
The festival falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the twelfth and final month of the Islamic lunar calendar, and coincides with the completion of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.
In Qatar, Eid Al Adha is a time of prayer, family, charity, and community. Most residents spend the holiday with family, attend Eid prayers, perform Qurbani (the ritual animal sacrifice), share meals, and exchange gifts and Eidiya with children.
Eid Al Adha 2026 Prayer Times In Qatar
Eid Al Adha prayer is held shortly after sunrise on the morning of Eid Day 1, which is Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
Based on late-May sunrise times in Doha (around 4:48 AM) and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) standard of holding Eid prayers approximately 15 to 20 minutes after sunrise, the expected Eid Al Adha prayer time in Doha is between 5:00 AM and 5:15 AM.
The official prayer time will be confirmed by the Ministry of Awqaf on the evening of Arafah Day (Tuesday, 26 May 2026). Keep an eye on their announcements or check the Awqaf website at islam.gov.qa for the final timing.
Where To Attend Eid Prayer In Qatar
Eid prayers are held at hundreds of designated mosques and open-air prayer grounds (musallahs) across Qatar. The Ministry of Awqaf usually announces around 700 designated locations, including mosques with dedicated prayer areas for women.
Major mosques and prayer locations in Doha include:
Education City Mosque

What Is Arafah Day (Waqfa) And Why It Matters
Arafah Day, also known as Yawm Arafah or Waqfa, falls on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 (9 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH). It is the day before Eid Al Adha begins and one of the most sacred days in the Islamic calendar.
On this day, pilgrims performing Hajj gather at Mount Arafat near Mecca for the most important ritual of the pilgrimage. For Muslims not performing Hajj, fasting on Arafah Day is highly recommended (Sunnah). According to a saying of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), fasting on this day expiates the sins of the previous year and the year to come.
In Qatar, Arafah Day is a public holiday. Most residents spend it in prayer, quiet reflection, and family time. The city tends to be calm, and major events usually start from Wednesday onwards.
Qurbani In Qatar: How To Arrange It
Qurbani is the ritual sacrifice of an animal during Eid Al Adha and is obligatory for Muslims who meet the financial threshold. The sacrifice can be performed on the first three days of Eid (27, 28, or 29 May 2026).
The meat is traditionally divided into three equal parts:
One-third for the family
One-third for relatives and friends
One-third for those in need
In Qatar, Qurbani can be arranged through:
Authorised slaughterhouses such as the central abattoir in Industrial Area
Local mosques that coordinate group Qurbani arrangements
Charitable organisations including Qatar Charity, Sheikh Eid Charity Foundation, and Qatar Red Crescent
Online services such as Muslim Pro and Qatar Charity’s online Qurbani portal, which let you nominate the meat for countries in need
Online Qurbani is increasingly popular among residents who prefer to direct their sacrifice to communities facing food insecurity overseas.
How Eid Al Adha Is Celebrated In Qatar
Eid Al Adha celebrations in Qatar combine deep tradition with vibrant modern festivities.
Morning of Eid Day 1: The day begins with Fajr prayer, followed by Eid prayer at the mosque shortly after sunrise. Many families wear new traditional clothing – thobes for men and abayas or traditional dresses for women and children.
Family visits and gatherings: After prayer, families gather for breakfast together. Throughout the day, relatives visit each other, exchange greetings of “Eid Mubarak,” and share large lunches centred around lamb, rice dishes like machboos and harees, and traditional sweets.
Eidiya for children: Kids receive Eidiya, which is small cash gifts from elders. This is one of the most loved traditions for younger family members.
Public celebrations: The Pearl-Qatar, Gewan Island, Doha Corniche, Souq Waqif, Katara Cultural Village, Aspire Park, and Old Doha Port host free family-friendly Eid events including fireworks, live shows, kids activities, and entertainment across all five days of the holiday.
Travel: Eid Al Adha is one of the biggest travel weeks of the year from Qatar, with residents heading to destinations like Istanbul, Baku, Tbilisi, the Maldives, Salalah, and Europe.
Are Shops, Malls, And Restaurants Open During Eid Al Adha?
Yes, but timings shift.
Malls: Most malls including Mall of Qatar, Doha Festival City, Place Vendome, Villaggio, Landmark, and City Center open around 2 PM on Eid Day 1 (Wednesday 27 May), then return to standard hours from Thursday onwards, usually 10 AM to midnight or 1 AM. Many run extended Eid hours and special events throughout the holiday.
Restaurants: Most restaurants stay open with standard timings, though some independent and smaller spots may close on Eid Day 1 morning. Hotel restaurants run special Eid brunches and buffet packages.
Supermarkets: Carrefour, Lulu, Spar, and Monoprix all stay open through the holiday with mostly normal hours. Some smaller branches may have shortened timings on Eid Day 1.
Banks: Closed throughout the official public holiday. Digital banking, ATMs, and online services remain fully operational. Normal banking resumes on Sunday, 31 May 2026.
Government offices: Closed for the full five-day holiday.

Eid Al Adha Vs Eid Al Fitr: What Is The Difference?
Both are major Islamic festivals, but they mark different things.
Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. It is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal and is sometimes called the Small Eid or Eid Al Saghir.
Eid Al Adha commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice and coincides with the completion of Hajj. It falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah and is called the Grand Eid or Al Eid Al Kabeer because it is considered the holier of the two Eids.
Eid Al Fitr involves Zakat Al Fitr charity given before the Eid prayer. Eid Al Adha involves Qurbani, the ritual animal sacrifice.
Eid Mubarak: How To Greet People During Eid Al Adha
The most common greeting is “Eid Mubarak” (Blessed Eid). You can also say:
Eid Saeed (Happy Eid)
Eid Adha Mubarak (Blessed Eid Al Adha)
Kul aam wa antum bi khair (May every year find you in good health)
The traditional reply to Eid Mubarak is “Khair Mubarak” or simply repeating “Eid Mubarak” back. Expats and visitors are warmly welcomed into the spirit of the greeting – Qataris and residents alike appreciate the gesture.

Practical Tips For Eid Al Adha In Doha
A few things worth knowing before the holiday hits.
Plan for delayed mall openings on Eid Day 1. Most malls open around 2 PM on the first day of Eid, then run 10 AM to 12 AM or 1 AM through the rest of the holiday.
Eid prayers are around sunrise. Expect prayer times between 5:15 and 5:45 AM in late May. Check your local mosque for exact timings.
Book tickets early. Lucky Ali, Sneaker Con VIP, and Fontana Circus prime seats sell out fast during Eid windows.
Bring cash for markets and small vendors. Torba Market, Souq Waqif stalls, and most independent vendors prefer cash or Fawran.
Pearl parking fills up fast. If you are heading to The Pearl for the celebrations or Torba Market, get there before 6 PM or budget extra time for parking.
Weather is manageable in the evening. Daytime hits 38 to 42 degrees Celsius, but evenings drop to 32 to 35, which is fine for outdoor markets and walks after sunset.
The whole city slows down on Arafah Day. Tuesday 26 May is a quiet, reflective day. Most public events properly kick off from Wednesday onwards.
So What Should You Actually Do This Eid?
Five days is enough time to do all of it. A morning prayer, a beach day, a desert overnight, an evening market, a concert night, a mall trip with the kids, and one slow day at Aspire Park doing nothing.
The point of Eid Al Adha is community, family, and gratitude. Whether you spend yours quiet at home or out at every event listed here, Qatar is set up to make it one of the best long weekends of the year.
If you have been scrolling through Doha’s weekend plans wondering what is actually worth leaving the house for this Eid Al Adha, here is your answer. Torba Market is back, but not at Education City this time. It has set up on the bridge at Qanat Quartier, The Pearl-Qatar, and it is open on four specific evenings in May.
That is it. Four nights. No farms. No big sprawling setup. Just a small, curated pop-up along the canal in the prettiest postcard corner of Doha.
Here is everything you need to know before you go.
When Torba Market On The Bridge Is Open
Mark these dates:
Saturday, 23 May 2026
Thursday, 28 May 2026
Friday, 29 May 2026
Saturday, 30 May 2026
The market runs from 5 PM to 9 PM each day.
Three of those four dates land inside the Eid Al Adha public holiday, which runs from Tuesday 26 May through Saturday 30 May this year. So if you are off work, this is one of the easiest evening plans to make happen.
Where It Is And How To Get There
The market sets up on the bridge and main road inside Qanat Quartier, the Venice-inspired neighbourhood at The Pearl-Qatar with the pastel buildings and the canals.
If you are coming by Uber or taxi, set your drop location to Spar Qanat Quartier. That puts you right at the entrance.
If you are taking the metro, get off at Legtaifiya station on the Gold line and grab a quick taxi from there. The Pearl is just across the highway.
Driving yourself? Three parking zones along Qanat Quartier Drive will get you within walking distance:
5A Strada Mercato
5B Strada Teatro
6A Strada Nobili
Get there early on the Eid days. Pearl parking fills up fast when the whole city is off work.
What Makes This Different From The Education City Torba Market
This is the part most people will not realise until they show up.
The original Torba Market at Education City is the proper farmers market most of us know and love. It runs from November to April every year. Local farms, fresh produce, wonky veg, Torba Junior, the works. That season is closed for the summer now.
Torba on the Bridge is something else entirely. It is a summer pop-up, smaller in size, evening only, and there are no farms here. When a follower asked Torba directly on Instagram whether veggies would be available, the answer was clear: only at Torba Store, the farms are not part of this pop-up.
So come for the food makers, the artisans, the coffee, and the canal-side evening walk. Not for your weekly produce shop.
The Vendor Lineup
The Vendor Lineup
Around 28 vendors are setting up across the bridge, sorted roughly into these categories.
Artisans and home food makers: Heidi’s Kitchen, Sehatna, The Pie Lady, Hab AlHaseed, and Juli’s Bakery.
By Torba: Torba’s own stalls including the Coffee Van, Torba Kitchen, Torba Store, and Torba Crepe.
Arts and crafts: Hooked Crochet, SADA, Reesha, Pendants.qa, and The Bold Project. Plus a Ceramic and Pottery workshop by Noware, which is the standout interactive activity on offer.
Hot and cold beverages: Vitamin Bar, ERA, Opulent, Smooth Operator, and The Lemonade Guy.
Wellness and lifestyle: Bethel Organics, Candeel, and Torba Natural.
Market food: Pure Eats, which is Qatar’s first fully gluten-free and dairy-free restaurant and is already based in Qanat Quartier. Also Bagel Break.
Baked and sweet goods: Apronfools and Kai.
It is small enough to walk through in under an hour and dense enough to spend a whole evening there. Easy maths.
Bringing Your Dog? Read This First
Torba shared a pet notice update worth flagging.
Dogs are welcome along the main road and bridge area where the market is set up. Dogs are not allowed in the retail area down by the canal.
The market is small in size, and Torba is expecting it to get busy, which can be unsettling for both pets and other attendees. So if your dog is the anxious type or does not love crowds, leave them at home. If they are chill and happy on a leash in busy areas, bring them along.
Practical Tips Before You Go
A few things that will save you a hassle once you are there.
Bring cash or Fawran. Most independent vendors at Torba accept these payment methods and not much else. Card is hit or miss. If you are a tourist without Fawran access, just bring riyals.
Plan for the weather. Late May evenings in Doha sit around 32 to 35 degrees Celsius. It is hot but completely manageable after sunset, which falls around 6:25 PM. You will be comfortable in light clothing once the sun drops.
Time it for golden hour. Arrive around 5:45 to 6 PM if you want photos. The pastel buildings catch the light beautifully right before sunset, and the canal lights come on after dark.
Come hungry. Between Pure Eats, Bagel Break, Torba Crepe, Torba Kitchen, and the home food makers, this is more of an eating market than a shopping market.
Combine it with other Pearl plans. Most cafes and restaurants in Qanat Quartier and Porto Arabia stay open late. You can easily turn the market into a longer Pearl evening with dinner or a walk along the boardwalk.
Why This Pop-Up Is Worth Showing Up For
Doha summers can feel a bit empty after the proper farmers market season ends in April. The good outdoor stuff goes quiet. Restaurants run their summer menus. Most of us spend May to September dipping between malls and pool days.
A small, curated, pet-friendly evening market on a bridge over a canal, with proper local vendors, is genuinely not a vibe Doha offers very often. The fact that it lines up with the Eid Al Adha holiday makes it one of the easier social plans of the season. No tickets, no booking, no entry fee. Walk on, walk around, walk out.
If you have not visited Qanat Quartier in a while, this is the excuse. And if you go regularly, you already know that the bridge after sunset is one of the prettiest spots in the whole country.
See you there.
FAQs
Is Torba Market On The Bridge free to enter? Yes. Entry is free. You only pay for what you buy from the vendors.
Are dogs allowed at Torba Market on the Bridge? Yes, along the main road and bridge area. Dogs are not allowed in the canal-side retail area.
Is this the same as the Torba Market at Education City? No. The Education City Torba Market is the full farmers market that runs from November to April. This Qanat Quartier pop-up is a smaller summer evening market with no farms.
What time does Torba Market on the Bridge open? 5 PM to 9 PM on 23, 28, 29, and 30 May 2026.
Can I buy fresh fruit and vegetables? Only a limited selection at Torba Store. The farms are not part of this pop-up.
Where do I park? Use parking zones 5A Strada Mercato, 5B Strada Teatro, or 6A Strada Nobili along Qanat Quartier Drive.
How do I get there by metro? Take the Gold line to Legtaifiya station, then a short taxi or Uber to Spar Qanat Quartier.

Qatar has a coastline most residents never fully see. We get stuck on Corniche and Katara, forgetting there is an entire shoreline beyond Doha with white sand, turquoise water, turtles, and not a single entry fee. These are the free beaches in Qatar worth the drive. Bookmark this for your next weekend.
1. Azerbaijani Beach, Madinat Ash Shamal
Azerbaijani Beach, Madinat Ash Shamal
The hidden gem everyone keeps quiet about. Around 90 km north of Doha, Azerbaijani Beach is famous for its soft white sand and crystal clear shallow water. No jet skis, no boats allowed, which is why the sea stays so clean. It is one of the busiest free beaches on weekends but the stretch is huge, so you will still find your spot. Bring your 4×4 if you want to drive onto the sand, but a regular car can manage the bumpy access road too.
Best for: camping, BBQ, stargazing, families Distance: 90 km from Doha Facilities: None on the beach itself, small shop nearby
2. Fuwairit Beach, Al Shamal
Fuwairit Beach, Al Shamal
White sand, clean water, and a turtle nesting site. Fuwairit is closed from April to August because hawksbill turtles come here to lay eggs, but Qatar Museums runs hatching visits through Culture Pass during the season. The rest of the year, it is one of the most photogenic beaches in Qatar and a favourite for kitesurfers.
Best for: kitesurfing, turtle watching season, photography Distance: 1.5 to 2 hours northeast of Doha Facilities: Minimal, bring everything
3. Al Wakra Old Souq Beach
Al Wakra Old Souq Beach
The most underrated beach in the country, and the closest one in this list. Right behind the Old Souq Al Wakra, this beach has the kind of view that makes you forget Doha is only 19 km away. Pair it with a karak at the souq, a walk along the heritage buildings, and a seafood lunch. The Wakra Family Beach nearby has gazebos, BBQ pits, playgrounds, and showers if you want more facilities.
Best for: half day trips, families, food and beach combo Distance: 19 km south of Doha Facilities: Restrooms, food at the souq, BBQ pits at the family beach
4. Legtaifiya Beach (The Night Beach), West Bay
Legtaifiya Beach (The Night Beach), West Bay
Qatar’s first night beach and the only entry on this list you can reach by metro. Legtaifiya is right behind District One food market, with Pearl Qatar lighting up the view across the water. Most activities start after 3 PM and run past midnight. Bouncing castles for kids, food stalls all around, and zero entry fee.
Best for: evening hangs, families, no-car trips Metro: Legtaifiya Station Facilities: Toilets, loungers, kids’ play area, food next door
5. Umm Bab Beach (Palm Tree Beach)
Umm Bab Beach (Palm Tree Beach)
The west coast pick. Umm Bab is known for the cluster of palm trees that frames the shoreline, which is rare for Qatar. The shore is more rocky than sandy, but the sunsets here are unmatched because you are facing west. Locals come here for camping and overnight BBQs.
Best for: sunsets, camping, west coast escape Distance: About 1 hour west of Doha, near Dukhan Highway Facilities: None
6. Sealine Beach, Mesaieed
Sealine Beach, Mesaieed
The only place in the country where the desert meets the sea on a public beach. Sealine sits in the south near Mesaieed, and you get high tide beach on one side and the famous sand dunes on the other. Camel rides, ATV rentals, dune bashing, and a swim, all in one Friday.
Best for: adrenaline, dune bashing, full day adventure Distance: 63 km south of Doha Facilities: No public toilets, parking only at the start of the dunes
7. Al Ghariya Beach, Al Shamal
Al Ghariya Beach, Al Shamal
Two beaches in one location. The maintained Al Ghariya Swimming Beach has restrooms, showers, shaded eating areas, and BBQ pits. The open Al Ghariya Beach next to it has zero facilities but full peace. Pick your version of a beach day.
Best for: clean water swims, snorkelling, picnics Distance: 100 km from Doha, around 1 hour drive Facilities: Restrooms, showers, shaded areas, BBQ pits (swimming beach side)
8. Simaisma Beach, North of Doha
Simaisma Beach, North of Doha
The 30 minute beach. If you want sand without committing to a road trip, Simaisma is your answer. Shallow water, soft sand, cabanas, and nearby playgrounds make it the most family friendly beach close to Doha. Great for a Friday morning with the kids before the heat builds.
Best for: families with little kids, quick beach trips Distance: 30 minutes from Doha Facilities: Cabanas, playgrounds nearby
9. Dukhan Beach, Dukhan
Dukhan Beach, Dukhan
Famous for its soft white sand and the deeper water that lets you actually swim, not just wade. Most public beaches in Qatar have very shallow shores, but Dukhan gives you proper depth for a real dip. Two beaches sit on either side of the private Qatar Petroleum Sports Club, both free, both stunning.
Best for: actual swimming, snorkelling, quiet weekday visits Distance: 80 km west of Doha Facilities: Restrooms and showers available
Local Tips Before You Pack the Car
Most free beaches in Qatar do not have lifeguards. Watch your kids.
The further you go, the less you will find. Take water, snacks, sunscreen, shade, and a trash bag. Leave the beach cleaner than you found it.
The best time to go is from October to March. Summer is brutal even at the coast.
A regular sedan can reach most of these beaches, but a 4×4 makes life easier on the sandy access roads.
Some beaches are technically open 24 hours but feel safer with company after sunset.
Qatar has more coastline than most residents will ever explore. These nine beaches are the easiest way to start. The cars are full, the sea is free, and the weekend is already calling.

The Qatar T100 Course: What You’re Actually Racing
The 100km race is broken down like this:
Swim: A 2km single-loop swim starting at the Lusail Ferry Dock and finishing at the transition area. Water temperature in December sits at around 22 to 23 degrees Celsius, so wetsuits are typically optional.
Bike: An 80km bike course featuring four laps around the dynamic streets of Lusail. Closed roads. Flat, fast and built for PRs.
Run: An 18km run, three laps of a 6km loop starting on Lusail Boulevard and circling the waterfront of Getaifan Island.
Spectator-friendly the whole way through.
Why the Qatar T100 Matters
The 2025 edition pulled in 5,171 participants across all race categories, with 3,087 of them in the running events alone and 753 children taking part in the 1km run. It put Lusail on the global endurance map overnight.
The professional field is genuinely elite. The T100 World Tour offers more than $8 million in prize money across the season, and the Qatar final is where world champions are crowned. Visit Qatar ambassador Sir Mo Farah handed out finisher medals to amateurs at last year’s race. T100 Triathlon
For Qatar, this is the long game. The T100 Triathlon World Championship Final is locked in as a Lusail event from 2025 through 2029, cementing Doha’s place alongside Singapore, San Francisco, London and Vancouver on the global multisport circuit. T100 Triathlon
What to Expect on Race Weekend
Beyond the racing itself, the Qatar T100 weekend is built like a festival. The event village at Lusail Plaza is open from Thursday with food vendors, expos, entertainment and merchandise. Athletes collect race packs in the days before the race. The pro races on Friday turn into prime spectator viewing. Saturday is the big amateur day.
If you’re not racing, come down anyway. The whole stretch is open to the public, the atmosphere is electric, and the finish line on Lusail Boulevard is one of the most photogenic in world sport.
Whether you’re chasing a world title or you just want to walk a 5K through Lusail at sunset with a drone show waiting at the finish, the Qatar T100 2026 has a lane for you.
Registrations are open. Prices are climbing. The clock is already ticking.
Friday in Doha hits different. The morning is quiet, the malls are closed till after prayers, and the city slows down just enough for you to remember why you actually like living here. The best way to spend it? Pack a basket, grab a karak on the way, and head to a park.
These are six picnic spots in Doha that locals genuinely use. Not tourist lists. Not Pinterest fantasies. The ones you actually drive to on a Friday afternoon with your people.
1. 5/6 Park
5/6 Park, Onaiza
The newer kid on the block and easily the most photogenic. 5/6 Park sits next to the Al Wahda Arches and is built around a giant plant maze shaped like the map of Qatar. There is a 5-metre observatory hill that gives you a full view of the Doha skyline, perfect for golden hour photos. The maze is lit up at night, the walls have murals by Qatari artists, and there is a 1.4 km jogging track if you actually want to move.
Best for: couples, Instagram pages, sunset hangs Open: 24/7, free entry Metro: Al Qassar (Red Line)
2. Al Bidda Park, Corniche
Al Bidda Park, Corniche
The OG. If you have been in Doha longer than six months, you have already had a barbecue here. Al Bidda is the largest park in central Doha, it is pet friendly, and it has bookable BBQ pits and gazebos. The waterfront views of West Bay are unmatched, especially after Asr prayer when the breeze finally shows up.
Best for: big families, group BBQs, dog walks Open: 4 AM to 11:50 PM, free entry Metro: Al Bidda (Interchange station)
3. Aspire Park, Aspire Zone
Aspire Park, Aspire Zone
The biggest park in the city and probably the most popular. Aspire has the artificial lake, the paddle boats, the view of The Torch, and roughly a hundred shaded picnic corners. It is the kind of place where you go for an hour and stay for four. Pro tip: park near the Villaggio side and walk in, the lake side gets crowded by 5 PM on Fridays.
Best for: families with kids, joggers, paddle boat dates Open: 24/7, free entry Metro: Al Aziziyah (Gold Line), then a short taxi
4. Crescent Park (North Hills), Lusail
Aspire Park, Aspire Zone
The quieter pick. Crescent Park in Lusail spans 275,000 square metres and locals know it as the North Hills park area. It has forested zones, kids’ playgrounds, and TeaTime Premium for your karak fix. It is far enough from central Doha that you actually get peace, but close enough to make it a real Friday option. If you want a picnic without the Aspire crowd, this is it.
Best for: quiet picnics, Lusail residents, slow afternoons Open: 24/7, free entry Best access: Lusail Metro (Red Line), then short drive
5. MIA Park, Corniche
MIA Park, Corniche
The view park. Sitting right behind the Museum of Islamic Art, MIA Park gives you the most postcard-ready picnic spot in Qatar. West Bay across the water, traditional dhows lined up on the corniche, Richard Serra’s “7” sculpture standing tall at the end of the pier. Park Café at the far end is perfect for an iced coffee, and on Fridays the MIA Park Bazaar usually pops up with food trucks and small vendors.
Best for: skyline photos, first-time visitors, slow sunset walks Open: 24/7, free entry Metro: National Museum (Gold Line)
6. Umm Al Seneem Park, Al Rayyan
MIA Park, Corniche
Save this one for summer because it is the only park in the world with a Guinness World Record for the longest outdoor air-conditioned jogging track. Yes, you read that right. 1,143 metres of cooled outdoor walkway, available from 3 PM to 11 PM, plus a reflexology path with cobblestones you can walk barefoot on. It is family friendly, has kids’ zones split by age group, and food kiosks scattered around. If you have been avoiding outdoor plans because of the heat, this is your park.
Best for: summer Fridays, joggers, families with little kids Open: AC track 3 PM to 11 PM, free entry Location: Wadi Al Theebiya Street, Al Rayyan
A Few Friday Picnic Tips From Someone Who Lives Here
Pack water. Way more than you think you need.
Bring a mat. The grass is often wet from the sprinklers, especially in the cooler months.
Go after Asr. Most parks fill up around 4 to 5 PM but the light is better and the heat has dropped.
Reserve BBQ pits in advance, especially at Al Bidda. Walk-ins on Friday will leave you grilling on disappointment.
Check the weather. Even in winter, the wind can flip your samosas.
Friday is the one day Doha gives you back. Use it.
