Self-Mastery with Yasser Al-Hozimey: A Free Talk at Qatar National Convention Centre

Yasser Al-Hozimey in Doha: Self-Mastery Talk at QNCC on 12 May 2026

One of the Arab world’s most-followed voices in self-development is coming to Doha. On Tuesday, 12 May 2026, Saudi trainer and podcaster Yasser bin Badr Al-Hozimey will headline the next instalment of the Education City Speaker Series with a talk titled Self-Mastery, a 90-minute conversation on self-awareness, growth, and personal fulfilment.

The session takes place at the Al Mayassa Theatre, Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

Quick details

  • Event: Self-Mastery: A Talk with Yasser Al-Hozimey
  • Date: Tuesday, 12 May 2026
  • Time: 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
  • Venue: Al Mayassa Theatre, QNCC, Education City
  • Audience: Open to all genders
  • Status: Fully booked on the official Education City portal at the time of writing
  • Registration page: educationcity.qa

Who is Yasser Al-Hozimey?

Yasser Al-Hozimey is a Saudi lecturer and certified trainer with over two decades of experience in self-development, human relations, and communication skills. He’s the host of the Arabic podcast Tadabbar and entered the Guinness World Records for the most-watched podcast episode globally, a Finjan podcast appearance that turned him into a household name across the Gulf. He’s also the author of The Strong Personality (الشخصية القوية), a widely read guide to self-confidence, self-acceptance, and identity.

His work tends to blend modern psychology with values-led, introspective frameworks, which is precisely the lens this Doha talk is expected to take.

What to expect from the Self-Mastery talk

The talk centres on a simple but loaded idea: when you slow down enough to look at yourself honestly, clarity follows, and clarity is what makes growth, success, and fulfilment possible. Expect themes around self-awareness, building a stable inner identity, communication, and the everyday habits that compound into long-term change. If you’ve followed his Tadabbar episodes, you’ll recognise the territory.

The event is fully booked: here’s what to do

Education City lists the event as fully booked, but a few options remain for anyone who missed registration:

  • Check back closer to the date. Cancellations on the Education City portal sometimes free up spots.
  • Follow Education City and Qatar Foundation on social media. Waitlist openings or livestream announcements are usually shared there first.
  • Watch for a recording. Many Education City Speaker Series talks are recorded and shared afterwards.
  • Explore the wider Series. The #ECSpeakerSeries hosts ongoing sessions with experts across disciplines, worth bookmarking if this format is your thing.

Why this talk matters for Doha

Doha’s appetite for high-quality public lectures has grown sharply over the past few years, and the Education City Speaker Series has become one of the most reliable platforms for it. Bringing in a speaker of Al-Hozimey’s regional pull, particularly for a free, public-facing talk, signals how seriously Qatar Foundation is investing in lifelong-learning content for residents and expats alike.

For anyone living in Doha and thinking seriously about personal growth, this is the kind of evening that’s worth showing up for.

12 Parks in Qatar That Are Actually Worth Your Weekend

Everyone has a favourite park in Doha. The question is which one earns the spot, and for what.

We tested 12 of the most popular parks in Qatar across what actually matters: shade, kid-friendliness, walkability, food nearby, and whether you’d want to go back on a Friday afternoon. Here’s the honest ranking.

1. Al Bidda Park

Al Bidda Park

The biggest, the busiest, the only pet-friendly one. If you’ve got a dog, this is your park, full stop. Al Bidda has 1.25 million square metres of green space along the Corniche, an actual amphitheatre, basketball courts, and the only dedicated dog park in Qatar (L’Arche). Underground parking for 6,000 cars means you’ll always find a spot. Best for: dog walkers, joggers, big family picnics.

Al Bidda Park

2. Aspire Park

Aspire Park

Qatar’s biggest urban park. The lake, the Torch tower at sunset, the joggers doing laps at 6am. Aspire is what most people picture when they hear “park in Doha.” Bring a kite, rent a paddle boat, eat at one of the cafés. Best for: lazy weekend mornings.

3. MIA Park

MIA Park

Probably the most photographed. The Museum of Islamic Art behind you, the dhow harbour and skyline in front. Richard Serra’s “7” sculpture, food trucks on weekends, and trampolines for the kids. Best for: visitors, golden hour walks, that one shot of Doha you’ll send your family.

4. Crescent Park (Lusail)

Crescent Park (Lusail)

The newest entry on this list and genuinely impressive. 275,000 square metres in Lusail with traditional-style irrigation rivers, tennis and basketball courts, restaurants, and direct tram access. Quieter than Al Bidda because Lusail residents are still discovering it. Best for: a Friday morning walk before brunch in Lusail.

5. Hotel Park

Hotel Park

Right behind the Sheraton, connected to the metro, walkable to the Corniche. Hotel Park gets dismissed as “just the green bit near West Bay” but the splash pad, the lake, and the cafés make it one of the most usable parks for families with small kids. Best for: post-school visits, weeknight wind-downs.

6. Oxygen Park

Oxygen Park

Education City, designed by AECOM, sunken jogging tracks lit at night. Oxygen Park is the runner’s park. Smooth tracks, no crowds, multi-purpose pitches. Best for: anyone training for something.

7. Al Gharrafa Park

Al Gharrafa Park

The only park in Qatar with air-conditioned jogging tracks. Yes, properly air-conditioned, kept at 26 to 28 degrees year-round using solar power. Game-changer in July. Best for: summer joggers and parents who refuse to give up outdoor time during heatwaves.

Al Gharrafa Park

8. Katara Hills

Katara Hills

Most people walk past Katara Cultural Village without realising the hills behind it are technically a park. 361,500 square metres of trees, walking paths, and views over Katara Beach. Quieter than the popular ones. Best for: a slow walk and a coffee at one of the Katara cafés afterwards.

9. Al Muntazah Park

Al Muntazah Park

The only park on this list with actual rides. Al Muntazah has the Island of Legends, a small water-park section, and adventure attractions. It blurs the line between park and amusement park, which works if you’ve got bored kids and an afternoon to fill. Best for: school holidays.

10. 5/6 Park

5/6 Park

The newest park aesthetic in Doha. Murals, art installations, a plant maze shaped like the map of Qatar, and pet-friendly. 5/6 feels designed for Instagram, which is not a criticism. Best for: a different kind of weekend walk, dog owners outside Al Bidda.

11. Al Rayyan Park

Al Rayyan Park

Honest take: it’s a solid neighbourhood park if you live in Al Rayyan, but it’s not a destination. Decent playgrounds, walking tracks, family-friendly. Best for: locals.

12. Umbrella Park

Umbrella Park

Located outside the Qatar Post building, the Umbrella Plaza park is designed to look like three interconnected Qatari postage stamps. It’s one of those Instagrammable parks in Doha that you’re sure to love taking pictures at. And by the time you get that perfect shot, your fitness bestie can take a round on the 900m jogging track and a 1.5km long cycle path.

Opposite Qatar Post, Al Corniche.

So which is the best park in Qatar?

If we had to pick one: Al Bidda Park. Size, variety, location, the pet-friendly factor, and the fact that you can spend an entire day there without running out of things to do.

But honestly, the right answer depends on what you’re trying to do. Going for a run? Oxygen or Al Gharrafa. Taking visitors? MIA. Bringing the dog? Al Bidda. Want something quieter? Crescent or Katara Hills.

Qatar has 149 official public parks. These 12 are the ones worth planning your weekend around.

Every Park in Qatar: The Complete List (Famous, Hidden, and In Between)

Qatar has 149 official public green spaces under the Ministry of Municipality (120 public parks, 25 plazas, and 4 corniches), with a target of 160 in the near future. 1. Doha Corniche: 7 km along the bay
  2. Al Khor Corniche
  3. Al Wakrah Corniche
  4. Al Shamal Corniche (the smallest of the four)

A note on the count

Public sources put the number at 149 (as of December 2024), with plans to reach 160. The Ministry of Municipality does not publish a single consolidated public list with every park named. Many of the smaller neighbourhood parks and plazas are referred to only by their Fereej (district) name on Google Maps and don’t appear in tourism guides at all. The list above covers every park I could verify by name across municipality records, news announcements, GIS data, and tourism sources.

If you want the absolute authoritative list including the unnamed neighbourhood plazas, the Ministry’s GIS portal at gisqatar.org.qa/parks is the official source. It plots every registered green space on a map.

Your Name in Landsat: How to Use NASA’s Satellite Name Generator (2026 Guide)

0

What if your name was already written on the planet, in rivers shaped like an “S,” coastlines bending into a “C,” lakes curling into an “O,” and you just needed a satellite to find it?

That’s Your Name in Landsat, a free NASA tool going viral around Earth Day 2026. Type any word, hit enter, and it spells your name using real satellite images of Earth.

What it is

Your Name in Landsat is a free web tool from NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey. Each “letter” is a real coastline, river, glacier, or mountain that naturally resembles a character from A to Z.

The images come from the Landsat program, which has been photographing Earth since 1972. That’s the longest continuous space-based record of Earth’s land in existence. It’s basically a typeface made of planet Earth.

How to use it (in 4 steps)

  1. Go to science.nasa.gov/specials/your-name-in-landsat/
  2. Type your name (A to Z only) and press Enter
  3. Don’t love it? Press Enter again for a fresh combination

Why it’s blowing up right now

NASA’s Kennedy Space Center promoted the tool around Earth Day 2026, and it took off because:

  • Every refresh creates a unique image with different rivers and different countries
  • It’s instantly shareable on Instagram and X
  • Google’s Earth Day 2026 doodle used a similar concept, priming audiences for the idea

Fun fact: the tool actually launched in August 2024 for NASA’s Camp Landsat. Earth Day 2026 just made it mainstream.

Tips for a better result

  • Shorter words look cleaner. 4 to 6 letters fits best
  • Refresh aggressively. Some letters have a dozen variations
  • Screenshot the coordinates. They make the post way more interesting
  • Try your name, your nickname, and your initials. Pick the strongest layout.

The science underneath

The same satellites finding a river shaped like an “R” also track deforestation, glacier retreat, urban sprawl, and wildfire scars. NASA estimates Landsat contributed $25.6 billion to the U.S. economy in 2023, and all the imagery is free for public use.

So when you generate your name, you’re playing with the same dataset climate scientists rely on every day.
