Qatar Tourism Hotline (106) Remains Operational to Support Visitors Amid Regional Developments

0

Qatar Tourism has confirmed that its dedicated Tourism Hotline (106) remains fully operational to assist visitors currently in the country amid ongoing regional developments.

The hotline has been strengthened to provide guidance, support, and tourism-related assistance to guests who may require help during this period. Visitors in Qatar are encouraged to contact the hotline for any inquiries or support related to their stay.

Commitment to Visitor Safety and Support

In a statement to guests, Qatar Tourism reassured travelers that the situation in the State of Qatar remains stable and that the country continues to prioritize the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of all visitors.

Authorities across various sectors are working in close coordination to maintain robust support systems and clear communication channels, ensuring assistance is available whenever needed. Qatar, known for its strong hospitality sector, continues to support guests throughout their stay.

Flight Disruptions and Travel Guidance

Qatar Tourism confirmed that commercial passenger flights remain temporarily disrupted due to the ongoing closure of Qatar’s airspace. However, limited relief flights may be arranged by airlines to assist affected passengers.

Travellers are advised to:

  • Wait for official communication from their airline regarding travel arrangements.
  • Avoid going to the airport unless instructed by their airline.
  • Follow updates from official government and aviation authorities.

Regular flight operations will resume once authorities confirm the safe reopening of the airspace.

Visa Extensions for Affected Visitors

To assist travellers impacted by the temporary travel disruptions, the State of Qatar has automatically extended visas and entry permits for affected visitors. These extensions are being granted without any additional fees, allowing guests to remain in the country legally until travel resumes.

Visitors whose scheduled departure dates have passed due to flight suspensions are advised to contact the Qatar Tourism Hotline (106) for guidance on the next steps.

Essential Services Continue Across the Country

Authorities confirmed that essential services across Qatar continue to operate, with adjustments implemented where necessary in line with official safety guidance. Government entities are actively coordinating efforts to ensure visitors have access to necessary services and information.

Qatar Sets Zakat Al-Fitr at QR15 per Person for Ramadan 2026

0

The Zakat Fund Department under the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has officially announced that the Zakat Al-Fitr amount for Ramadan 2026 has been set at QR15 per person. The announcement was reported by The Peninsula on March 4, 2026.

Official Announcement

According to Malallah Abdulrahman Al Jaber, Head of the Zakat Fund Department, the fixed amount ensures that Muslims can fulfill their religious obligation of Zakat Al-Fitr, which is traditionally given before the Eid Al-Fitr prayer to support families in need.

Al Jaber also noted that individuals may authorize the Zakat Fund Department to manage their Zakat Al-Fitr throughout the month of Ramadan. In such cases, the department will take full responsibility for purchasing food items and distributing them to eligible beneficiaries at the appropriate religious time, ensuring that donors meet their obligations correctly.

Multiple Payment Options for Donors

To make the process easier and more secure, the Zakat Fund Department has introduced several digital and physical payment options:

These options allow donors to conveniently contribute their Zakat from anywhere.

Collection Points Across Qatar

In addition to online methods, the department has set up physical collection offices across Qatar, operating during both morning and evening hours.

More than 28 mosques across the country have also been designated as Zakat Al-Fitr collection points, making it easier for residents to donate. The department regularly updates the public about these locations through its official social media channels.

Ensuring Timely Distribution

To guarantee that assistance reaches those in need before the Eid prayer, the Zakat Fund Department has partnered with a specialized delivery company. This collaboration ensures that food supplies funded through Zakat Al-Fitr donations are delivered to eligible families on time, allowing them to celebrate Eid with dignity.

Zakat Al-Fitr is a mandatory charitable contribution for Muslims at the end of Ramadan, intended to purify fasting and provide food for the less fortunate during the Eid celebrations. The set amount of QR15 per person helps standardize contributions and ensures efficient distribution across the country.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a second circular announcing the further postponement of Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations in Middle Eastern countries. This decision follows a continued assessment of the ongoing situation in the region.

As per the latest update dated March 3, 2026, exams scheduled for March 5 and March 6, 2026, in countries including Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE have now been postponed. The revised dates for these examinations will be announced at a later time.

The board stated that it will again review the situation on March 5, 2026, and take appropriate decisions regarding exams scheduled from March 7 onwards. This indicates that further changes may be made depending on how conditions evolve.

Students have been strongly advised to stay in regular contact with their schools and keep checking official CBSE updates. Schools are also expected to guide students regarding any changes in the schedule.

This continued postponement reflects CBSE’s cautious approach, prioritizing the safety and well-being of students amid uncertain regional conditions. Further clarity on the examination schedule is expected soon.

Exiting Qatar, Singapore, Japan, and Uzbekistan; actions not expected to materially impact

DoorDash’s financial outlook San Francisco, Helsinki, and London–(BUSINESS WIRE)–DoorDash, Inc. (NASDAQ: DASH) today announced it is exiting four countries across its Deliveroo and Wolt brands: Qatar, Singapore, Japan, and Uzbekistan.

The company will begin an orderly wind-down process in each country and will work closely with local teams and partners to support employees, merchants, consumers, riders, and couriers through the transition. These decisions follow a review of country-specific conditions, including the investment required to build a best-in-class product and durable business in each country. DoorDash is also implementing limited operational changes in select locations, including investing in certain engineering roles in the UK. DoorDash does not expect these actions to materially impact its financial outlook, and the guidance ranges provided on February 18, 2026 remain unchanged.

Miki Kuusi, Head of DoorDash International, CEO of Deliveroo & Co-founder of Wolt, said:

“We’ve made the difficult decision to wind down operations in Qatar, Singapore, Japan, and Uzbekistan. Our priority is supporting our teams and partners through an orderly transition as we focus on the geographies where we can offer the best product and build a long‑term business. ”
