Qatar Back to School 2026-2027: MOEHE Campaign Dates, Events and Everything Parents Need to Know

School is back in less than two weeks and Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education has launched its Back to School 2026-2027 campaign to help students, families and teachers prepare for the new academic year in the most comprehensive way the Ministry has attempted yet.

This year’s campaign is bigger than previous editions, combining family-facing interactive events at Place Vendome and Msheireb, a special initiative for new first-grade students across all government schools, a full educational forum for teachers and school leaders at QNCC, and a partnership with Al Meera running through mid-September.

Here is everything you need to know, including every date, every location and every event.

When Does School Start in Qatar 2026-2027?

Students officially return to school on Sunday August 30, 2026. Staff and teachers begin on Sunday August 23, with the week from August 23 to 27 designated for preparation and professional development.

The First Step Initiative: For New First-Grade Students

The standout new element of this year’s Back to School campaign is the First Step initiative, launched by the Ministry for the first time in partnership with Rafeeq Company. This initiative specifically targets the approximately 10,700 students who are starting first grade in government schools for the very first time in 2026.

The program is designed to ease the transition into formal schooling, enhance the student experience at the very beginning of their educational journey, and give new students and their families the support and preparation they need heading into that first day.

For parents of children entering first grade this year, the First Step initiative is worth following through the Ministry’s official channels for updates on what it includes and how to access it.

Educational Forum at QNCC: August 25, 2026

On August 25, 2026, the Ministry is holding its annual Educational Forum at the Qatar National Convention Centre in West Bay. This is primarily aimed at educational leaders, teachers, school staff and partners rather than families, but it sets the direction for the academic year and is significant for anyone working in or connected to Qatar’s education sector.

The forum will include more than 15 training workshops alongside a main dialogue session titled “People First… Authenticity is Strength and Digitalization is Empowerment.” The session explores the future of education in Qatar, with a specific focus on keeping human connection at the centre of the educational process, strengthening identity and values in the learning environment, and using digital transformation and modern technology as tools to empower teachers and students rather than replace them.

Date: Monday August 25, 2026
Venue: Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), West Bay, Doha

Back to School Pavilion at Place Vendome: August 21 to 27

One of the most family-facing parts of the campaign is the special Ministry pavilion at Place Vendome, running in partnership with Mowasalat (Karwa).

Dates: August 21 to 27, 2026
Timing: 4 PM to 10 PM daily
Location: Place Vendome, Lusail

The pavilion features interactive, entertaining and educational activities for children and families, plus shows and performances on the pavilion stage. It is designed to combine education and entertainment in a way that makes getting ready for school feel exciting rather than daunting, and gives the Ministry a direct community touchpoint with families across Doha during the busy pre-school preparation window.

Place Vendome is easily accessible by the Doha Metro Red Line via Lusail Station, so getting there without a car is straightforward.

Back to School at Msheireb: August 25 to 27

The Ministry is also present at Msheireb Downtown Doha during the final days of the pre-school period.

Dates: August 25 to 27, 2026
Timing: 4 PM to 9 PM daily
Location: Msheireb Downtown Doha

Educational, entertaining and interactive activities for children and families are running across these three days, with the focus on strengthening direct communication between the Ministry and families in a relaxed, engaging environment that combines learning with the festive atmosphere of the back-to-school season.

Al Meera Back to School Campaign Partnership

The Ministry is participating as a strategic partner in Al Meera’s Back to School campaign, which runs across several Al Meera branches from August 15 to September 15, 2026. This partnership extends the campaign’s reach into neighborhood supermarkets across Qatar, making it accessible to families in every part of the country during the full preparation period before and after school begins.

What the Back to School 2026-2027 Campaign Is About

The Ministry of Education has been clear about the broader ambition behind this campaign. It is not just about getting children ready with stationery and uniforms. The campaign is built around promoting shared responsibility for education, building a culture of partnership between families, schools and the government, and ensuring that students, parents and teachers all enter the new academic year feeling prepared, supported and genuinely motivated.

The combination of the First Step initiative for new students, the professional development forum for teachers, the community events at major venues across Doha, and the retail partnership with Al Meera is the most coordinated back-to-school effort the Ministry has launched to date.
