What if your name was already written on the planet, in rivers shaped like an “S,” coastlines bending into a “C,” lakes curling into an “O,” and you just needed a satellite to find it?
That’s Your Name in Landsat, a free NASA tool going viral around Earth Day 2026. Type any word, hit enter, and it spells your name using real satellite images of Earth.
Your Name in Landsat is a free web tool from NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey. Each “letter” is a real coastline, river, glacier, or mountain that naturally resembles a character from A to Z.
The images come from the Landsat program, which has been photographing Earth since 1972. That’s the longest continuous space-based record of Earth’s land in existence. It’s basically a typeface made of planet Earth.
— NASA's Kennedy Space Center (@NASAKennedy) April 22, 2026
Every refresh creates a unique image with different rivers and different countries
It’s instantly shareable on Instagram and X
Google’s Earth Day 2026 doodle used a similar concept, priming audiences for the idea
Fun fact: the tool actually launched in August 2024 for NASA’s Camp Landsat. Earth Day 2026 just made it mainstream.
Tips for a better result
Shorter words look cleaner. 4 to 6 letters fits best
Refresh aggressively. Some letters have a dozen variations
Screenshot the coordinates. They make the post way more interesting
Try your name, your nickname, and your initials. Pick the strongest layout.
The science underneath
The same satellites finding a river shaped like an “R” also track deforestation, glacier retreat, urban sprawl, and wildfire scars. NASA estimates Landsat contributed $25.6 billion to the U.S. economy in 2023, and all the imagery is free for public use.
So when you generate your name, you’re playing with the same dataset climate scientists rely on every day.
FAQs
Is it free? Yes. No login, no payment.
Does it work with non-English names? A to Z English characters only for now.
Why does it look different every refresh? Each letter has multiple satellite images. The tool randomizes the pick.
Can I use it commercially? Landsat imagery is generally public domain, but check NASA’s media guidelines for paid use.
If you’ve spent any time in Doha during the autumn months, you’ll know that DJWE isn’t just another exhibition. It’s the event that turns the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre into a six-day open vault. Maisons fly in from Geneva, collectors fly in from across the GCC, and the rest of us walk through 33,000 square metres of jewellery and watches we’ll probably never own but absolutely have to see in person.
The 21st edition of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition is back in 2026, and the dates have shifted from where they used to sit. Here’s everything you need to know before you go.
The 22nd edition of Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) 2026, organised by Qatar Tourism and brought by Visit Qatar, will take place from September 28 to October 3 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC), bringing together an exceptional line-up of leading… pic.twitter.com/mLSD0Cq732
— قطر للسياحة – Qatar Tourism (@qatartourism) April 26, 2026
When and Where Is DJWE 2026?
Mark these dates in bold:
Dates: 28 September to 3 October 2026
Venue: Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC), West Bay
Hours: Weekdays 12pm to 10pm, Friday 3pm to 10pm
Edition: The 21st annual DJWE
Organisers: Qatar Tourism and Qatar Business Events Corporation (QBEC)
Official hashtag: #DJWE2026
Website: djwe.qa
A heads-up worth knowing. Earlier this year, the original 2026 edition was scheduled for late April and early May. In April 2026, organisers announced the event would now run from 28 September to 3 October instead. So if you’ve seen the older April–May dates floating around, that’s outdated. The September edition is the one to plan for.
Why DJWE Is a Big Deal
DJWE has quietly become one of the most important luxury exhibitions in the Middle East, and the numbers back it up.
30,000 visitors typically attend across the six days.
Over 175 countries are represented through the visitor base, which is genuinely rare for a regional exhibition.
500+ brands showcase under one roof, including international maisons, regional jewellers, and emerging designers.
The event combines a curated retail experience with daily industry talks, workshops, and side-line events. So whether you’re walking through to admire the craftsmanship or you’re a serious collector hunting a specific piece, there’s a track for you. Industry experts use it to connect with regional buyers. Watch enthusiasts use it for first-look access to releases destined for the Middle East market. Jewellery collectors use it to meet master jewellers face to face. And honestly, plenty of people just go to look at the watches the way other people look at art at a museum.
What to Expect at the 2026 Edition
The 2026 edition is being positioned as a refreshed and elevated experience. Organisers have promised a modern, immersive layout that’s a step up from previous editions. The DECC, which spans more than 33,000 square metres, gives the show plenty of room to deliver on that promise.
Here’s what you can expect once you walk in:
A curated retail experience from leading international, regional, and local brands. Think globally recognised watch maisons sitting alongside established Qatari jewellers and emerging designers showcasing new collections.
Daily industry talks where collectors and enthusiasts can hear directly from designers, watchmakers, and brand executives. These sessions are often where you get the real insight into design philosophy, sourcing, and what’s coming next.
Workshops and side-line events designed to give industry experts and specialists a chance to connect with buyers and learn what regional customers actually want. This is where serious business gets done.
Global celebrities and influencers attending each year, which adds a fashion-week energy to the floor on certain days.
A genuine sense of occasion. Doha is a city that does luxury events well, and DJWE is one of the highlights of the calendar.
Why Doha Is the Right City for This Event
The decision to hold a luxury exhibition of this size in Doha isn’t accidental. Qatar has built a reputation as a serious player in the global luxury market, and the DECC is genuinely world class. With a host of five-star hotels nearby (St. Regis, Sheraton Grand, Four Seasons, and many more) and easy access to the city’s main attractions, DJWE works as both an exhibition and a long weekend in Doha.
September weather in Doha is also when the city starts to ease out of the summer heat. Days are still warm but no longer brutal, evenings are pleasant, and the cultural calendar around the event tends to be busy. Art shows, restaurant launches, and seasonal openings often line up with DJWE, so a trip to the exhibition naturally turns into a wider Doha experience.
Who Should Go to DJWE 2026
DJWE works for a few different kinds of visitors, and it’s worth knowing which one you are before you go.
If you’re a collector, this is one of the best opportunities in the region for first-look access, direct conversations with brand representatives, and waitlist intelligence on releases destined for the Middle East market. Multiple regional collectors describe DJWE as essential for understanding future allocations.
If you’re an enthusiast or curious visitor, treat it as a museum that lets you get within inches of pieces you’d never otherwise see. The walk-through alone is worth it.
If you work in the jewellery or watch industry, DJWE is genuinely one of the best networking opportunities in the GCC. The workshops and side events are where contracts get discussed and partnerships start.
If you’re shopping for a special purchase, like an engagement ring, a milestone watch, or a once-in-a-lifetime piece, DJWE gives you the rare chance to compare hundreds of brands side by side in a single afternoon.
Practical Tips Before You Go
A few things that will make the visit smoother:
Plan to spend at least three to four hours on your first walk-through. The space is bigger than it looks, and you’ll move slower than you expect.
Go on a weekday afternoon if you want a quieter experience. Friday evenings and the final weekend tend to be the busiest.
Dress for the venue. DJWE leans formal. You’ll see a lot of business attire, traditional dress, and well-styled visitors. There’s no strict dress code, but turning up in beachwear will feel out of place.
Bring a notebook or use your phone to track pieces you love. After 50 booths, every piece starts blurring together.
Park early. The DECC has good parking, but it fills up fast on peak days.
If you’re flying in for the event, book your hotel early. Properties near the DECC sell out fastest, and the rates climb in the final weeks.
How to Get to the DECC
The Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre is located in West Bay, one of the most accessible parts of the city. You can reach it by:
Doha Metro: The DECC is a short walk from West Bay metro station on the Red Line, which is the easiest way to avoid traffic.
Taxi or rideshare: Uber and Karwa taxis are readily available and reasonably priced for trips within the city.
Driving: The DECC has on-site parking. If you’re driving, give yourself extra time during peak event hours.
Final Thoughts
DJWE has earned its place as one of the most important events on Doha’s calendar, and the 2026 edition looks like it’s going to push that further. With more than 500 brands, 30,000 visitors, and a refreshed layout designed to elevate the experience, it’s worth marking the dates and planning early.
Whether you’re going to buy, to network, or just to see some of the most extraordinary jewellery and watches in the world up close, DJWE is one of those events that genuinely lives up to the hype. Get there before the final weekend rush, take your time, and enjoy the fact that for six days a year, Doha turns into one of the most exciting addresses in the global luxury world.

Padel didn’t just arrive in Doha. It exploded. In the last few years, Qatar has gone from “where can I find a court?” to “which one of the nine I drove past today should I book?”
Part of that’s the climate. Part of it’s Qatar Sports Investments buying the World Padel Tour back in 2023. And part of it is just the sport itself. Easy to learn, addictive to play, and built for doubles, which makes it the rare workout that doubles as a social plan.
So whether you want a rooftop court with a skyline view, an indoor club where the air-con actually keeps up in July, or a five-star hotel court where someone hands you a towel between games, this roundup covers it. Here are the best places to play padel in Doha right now.
1. Doha Oasis Padel: The Indoor Heavyweight in Msheireb
Doha Oasis Padel: The Indoor Heavyweight in Msheireb

Five indoor climate-controlled courts, two of which can be booked privately for ladies-only sessions, coaching, or just a quieter game away from the crowd. Add a padel shop, a coffee corner, and a loyalty program that gives you a free hour after six visits, and it’s set up to keep you coming back.
Pricing sits at QR210 for an hour, QR280 for 90 minutes, and QR350 for two hours. They run seven days a week from 10am to midnight (Friday from 4pm), and bookings need to be cancelled at least six hours ahead or you’ll be charged the full amount.
Best for: Indoor play in the city centre with a polished, premium feel.

It runs as a fully indoor, climate-controlled club with rental gear, an academy with structured classes, and the kind of professional setup that makes it the go-to for players who actually want to improve.
Pricing starts from QR280 for 90 minutes, and they’re open daily from 6:30am to midnight, which makes them one of the few clubs in Doha that genuinely accommodates an early-morning crowd.

The St. Regis Doha: Five-Star Padel on the West Bay Beachfront

Set against the backdrop of one of Doha’s most iconic beachfront hotels, the outdoor court sits within a five-star resort that includes a private beach, an Olympic-sized pool, and signature St. Regis butler service. Padel rackets are available on request, so even a spontaneous game is fully sorted.

How to Pick the Right Padel Court in Doha
If you’re trying to figure out where to start, here’s the honest breakdown.
If you want indoor, climate-controlled play (the smart choice for May to September), Doha Oasis, The Dome, and Padel In are your strongest options.
If you want a hotel-style experience with full amenities, Waldorf Astoria Lusail, The St. Regis, and Doha Sport Company at Sheraton Grand are all excellent. You’re paying for the setting as much as the courts.
If views matter to you, 14/Love at The Gate Mall and Padel Up at J-Mall both deliver that rooftop skyline experience. Padel Garden gives you the outdoor Katara Hills view from a different angle.
If you want serious coaching and want to actually improve, The Dome and Padel In have the strongest academy programs in the country.
If you’re a woman looking for a ladies-only setup, Doha Oasis offers two private ladies’ courts, Padel Garden has a covered ladies’ court, and Padel In runs a dedicated Aspire Ladies branch.
If you live in Lusail, Waldorf Astoria is your closest premium option. West Bay residents have 14/Love, Doha Sport Company, and St. Regis. Education City and Al Rayyan locals can head to The Dome. Anyone in central Doha is a short drive from Doha Oasis.
