Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia and Qatar Olympic Committee, took part in the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games torch relay in Nagoya, Japan, on Friday, September 18.
The Asian Games torch relay reached its final stage at Hisaya Odori Park, bringing together OCA officials, National Olympic Committee representatives and sports figures ahead of the opening of the 20th Asian Games.
Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games Torch Relay
The torch journey began with a flame-lighting ceremony in Tokyo on August 18, before travelling through Hiroshima and Nagoya and passing through municipalities and schools in Aichi Prefecture.
According to the Olympic Council of Asia, the relay covered 40 municipalities and 16 wards of Nagoya, with around 1,000 torchbearers taking part.
The relay concluded on September 18, one day before the official opening ceremony.
When Are the Asian Games 2026?
The Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games officially open on September 19, 2026, with competitions continuing until October 4.
Athletes representing 45 National Olympic Committees are taking part in the 20th edition of the Asian Games.
