The call comes as part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to protecting the community from infectious diseases, limiting their spread, and strengthening national prevention policies in line with the latest international scientific developments. The Ministry continues to update health regulations and vaccination recommendations while expanding the national immunization program to include the most advanced and globally approved vaccines.
The Ministry of Public Health confirmed that the RSV vaccine has received approval from leading international health organizations due to its high effectiveness in preventing the virus and its complications, particularly among high-risk groups. The vaccine is known for its strong safety profile and minimal side effects and has been officially included in Qatar’s national vaccination schedule.
Who Should Receive the RSV Vaccine
The Ministry has identified several high-risk groups who are strongly advised to receive the RSV vaccine as soon as possible:
Pregnant women between the 28th and 36th week of pregnancy to protect both mother and baby People aged 60 and above People aged 18 to 59 with chronic diseases such as heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, and kidney disease People with weakened immune systems due to medication or medical conditions
The Ministry of Public Health has called on all eligible individuals, especially pregnant women, to visit vaccination centers promptly, stressing that the vaccine provides strong protection that lasts for up to two years.
What Is Respiratory Syncytial Virus RSV
Respiratory syncytial virus is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild symptoms similar to the common cold. However, it can lead to serious lower respiratory tract infections, particularly among infants, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic illnesses.
Global health statistics show that RSV is responsible for more than 100,000 deaths worldwide each year, along with approximately 3.6 million hospitalizations.
RSV Vaccine Availability in Qatar
The RSV vaccine is currently available at Hamad Medical Corporation hospitals and Primary Health Care Corporation centers. Eligible individuals are encouraged to book their appointments and receive the vaccine as part of Qatar’s national immunization program.
The Ministry of Public Health continues to strengthen disease prevention efforts by expanding vaccine coverage and ensuring access to the latest international vaccines to protect public health and community safety.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar has officially opened electronic registration for free and discounted private school and kindergarten seats under its Social Responsibility Program. The service is now available through the Maaref Public Services Portal, with applications opening from 20 January 2026.
This major initiative by MoEHE Qatar provides more than 3,500 free and reduced-fee seats across participating private schools and kindergartens. The program is designed to support low-income families and promote equal access to quality education while ensuring long-term academic continuity for students until graduation.
The program includes fully free seats, reduced-fee seats, educational voucher seats for Qatari students, and special free seats for students with disabilities. Some participating schools are also offering completely free evening education programs.
The Ministry of Education confirmed that the service is open to families of all nationalities as long as eligibility requirements are met. Applications must be submitted electronically through the Maaref Public Services Portal.
Who Can Apply
Families of all nationalities can apply provided they meet the income and residency conditions set by MoEHE Qatar. For resident students, the student must not be enrolled in a government school and neither parent should be employed in the government sector.
