If you use Lusail Tram in Qatar, you’ll want to plan ahead. Qatar Rail has announced that Lusail Tram services will be fully suspended from Friday, June 26 until Sunday, July 5, 2026 to allow major improvement works across the network.
The 10-day Lusail Tram closure is being carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Transport, with replacement buses, Metroexpress and Metrolink services set to cover affected routes during the suspension.
And even after the full closure ends, the network won’t return to normal straight away. From July 6, Lusail Tram services will operate only between Legtaifiya and Tarfat South stations, while additional upgrade works continue on other sections of the network.
Lusail Tram suspension dates in Qatar
Qatar Rail said all Lusail Tram services will be suspended from June 26 to July 5, 2026 as part of significant development and improvement works aimed at enhancing passenger services and improving the tram network’s performance.

Metroexpress and Metrolink
Passengers can also use:
- Metroexpress
- Existing Metrolink routes
- A new Metrolink route M154 launched to support travel during the closure
What changes after July 5?
The main Lusail Tram suspension ends on July 5, but not all services will return immediately.
From July 6, tram operations will resume only between Legtaifiya and Tarfat South, while at-grade sections of Tram Lusail remain suspended for further upgrades.
Qatar Rail says these works are part of wider efforts to improve efficiency, service quality and the overall passenger journey.
What passengers in Lusail should do now
If you travel regularly in Lusail, especially around Qatar University, Lusail Stadium, Marina, Fox Hills or Downtown Lusail, it’s worth checking your route before travelling during the closure period.
