Who Is John Achkar?
If you are not already familiar with him, here is the short version.
John Achkar is a Lebanese stand-up comedian born in Beirut in 1990, known for Arabic-language comedy that explores the Arab diaspora, marriage, cultural identity, and work life. He has toured internationally, performing across Europe, Australia, North America, and the GCC.
He gained prominence through Stand Up Baladi, Lebanon’s first Arabic-language stand-up series, and has used his platform to raise awareness about social and political issues in Lebanon, including collaborating with NGOs following the 2020 Beirut explosion.
His previous specials are: No Worries (2020), Wein 3ayish (2022), Shou Zakeh?! (2023), and Aam Jarreb (Tryin’). That last tour is the one that made international headlines. He performed at the iconic L’Olympia stage in Paris in what was the first-ever Arabic-language comedy performance at that venue, a stage that has hosted Chris Rock, Gad Elmaleh, and Eddie Izzard.
He has since toured over 75 cities and sold more than 150,000 tickets across all his shows. Feena Nehke? is what comes next.
Why This Show Is Worth Booking
Achkar has performed in Doha before. Those shows sold out. The reason is not complicated: his comedy connects with the people who live here.
As Front Row Filmed Entertainment put it: he managed to crack that space without ever diluting his voice. He toured more than 75 cities, filled every room, and found the universal pulse that unites Arabs everywhere through pure, honest comedy.
Doha’s crowd is made up of people who moved countries, juggled expectations, and carry the particular exhaustion of living between worlds. Achkar writes directly from that experience. The laughs hit harder because the observations are real, not performed.
Feena Nehke? is also the most ambitious show he has brought to the stage. He is also attempting English at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2026, which gives some sense of where his reach is going. This Doha date is part of an active international tour and is one of the few Gulf stops on the run. Instagram
